Titchfield Evangelical Church

Who we are

We call ourselves Titchfield Evangelical Church because we firmly believe that the Bible is God's Word and is true, vital and relevant to us today. We seek to follow the words of Jesus to his followers to 'Preach the good news', and 'to make disciples of all nations'. The Bible describes the Church as the 'body of Christ' and we believe it is essential to regularly meet together for Christian fellowship, prayer and Bible Study.

When people put their trust in Jesus as their Lord and Saviour then we encourage them to follow the Bible's teaching to be baptized and to play a full part in the life of the local church.  Most of our regular worshippers formally become Church Members and share in the decision taking of the wide-range of activities, use of finances and general direction of the church in its worship and witness. However, Membership is not essential and our congregation also includes regular worshippers as well as visitors.

From time to time a Pastor, or Minister, seeks to lead and support us but currently there is no one in this position. We are organized and run by Elders and Deacons who together are known as the Leadership Team. At this time this comprises:

John Cook (Elder and Church Secretary)
John is a self-employed business consultant who became a Christian about 20 years ago. He is married to Sue and began attending the church in 2001.

Since joining the leadership team he has particular responsibilities as secretary and overseeing much of the practical work that the church needs to be done, and uses his gift in occasional preaching and leading homegroup Bible studies.

John reflects on his faith by saying that his belief and trust in God and His Son, Jesus Christ, provides him with daily guidance and the promise of eternal life.

Miriam Hardy (Deacon and Church Treasurer).
Miriam is the most recently added member of our leadership team.

After assisting the treasurer for some while she agreed to take on the responsibility and her hard work in this, and many other practical aspects in church life is much appreciated by the Fellowship.

She has been a Christian for many years and has two grown up children.  In her secular life she's employed in local government.

Bob Rule (Elder)
Bob was for many years Pastor at East Beach Evangelical Church in Selsey. Upon retirement he and his wife, Ann moved to the area to support the work in Titchfield and has taken the responsibility for much of the preaching and teaching in the church. Both he and Ann are Scottish by birth and they have two children and one grandchild

We are encouraged by others in the fellowship who assist with many things that go for a smooth running church, seeking to rise to the challenge of serving God in our community and further afield with missions and missionary work.
